About Mary Moreno Studio

Meet Mary Moreno — A Self-Taught Watercolor Artist Helping Beginners Paint with Confidence

Starting watercolor can feel confusing and overwhelming — I know, because that was me just a few years ago.

When I began painting in 2020, I had no art background. Just a curious heart, a cheap brush set, and a lot of beginner questions.

Most classes and tutorials felt too advanced. They used terms I didn’t understand and assumed skills I didn’t have. I felt intimidated before I even picked up a brush.

But I still wanted to paint — and I was determined to figure it out.

I Built a Simpler Way to Learn Watercolor

After hundreds of hours of reading, experimenting, and practicing, I started to piece together a more beginner-friendly path.

It wasn’t perfect — but it worked.
Painting became relaxing, fun, and even a little magical. As I kept going, I noticed something important: the simpler I kept things, the more I painted — and the more confident I felt.
